National Accounts Lead

Headway’s mission is a big one - to build a new mental health care system everyone can access. We’ve built technology that helps people find great therapists with the first software-enabled national network of providers accepting insurance.

1 in 4 people in the US have a treatable mental health condition, but the majority of providers don’t accept insurance, making therapy too expensive for most people. Headway is building a new mental healthcare system that everyone can access by making it easy for therapists to take insurance and scale their practice.

Headway was founded in 2019 – since then, we’ve grown into a diverse, national network of over 25,000 mental healthcare providers across all 50 states who run their practice on our software. We’re a Series C company with over $225m in funding from a16z (Andreessen Horowitz), Accel, GV (formerly Google Ventures), Spark Capital, Thrive Capital, and Health Care Service Corporation.

We want your time here to be the most meaningful experience of your career. Join us, and help change mental healthcare for the better.

About The Role

As Headway continues to scale health plan partnerships across the US, we’re looking to hire a National Accounts Lead to both go deep with commercial teams at health plans and develop a new employer product strategy to support national accounts. Reporting to our Principal, Payer partnerships, you’ll work cross functionally with internal teams (Strategy, Product, Operations, Growth, Marketing) to creatively solve for employer needs, while also deepening external national accounts relationships to support our overall health plan partnerships and identify product opportunities.

All members of the Payer Partnerships team share the desire to strive for excellence, find creative solutions to complex problems, build deep relationships with clients, and are relentlessly focused on the outcomes of our work. If you aspire to build great things and seek the ambiguity that growth necessitates, this is the role for you.

You will:

  • Be responsible for the health, management, and growth of national accounts relationships across national and regional health plans

  • Build and grow relationships with commercial leaders at health plans & benefits leaders at large employers and serve as the face of Headway

  • Create customized commercial solutions to deepen existing health plan partnerships

  • Leverage data to generate insights and identify new opportunities for partnership growth

  • Directly influence Headway product strategy by communicating insights from commercial teams & employers, and work closely with EPD to develop a new set of employer products/services

You will love this role if:

  • You have a minimum of 7+ years of experience and are well versed in a role that requires deep healthcare knowledge, analytical problem solving, first-principle thinking, and operational rigor; examples include strategy, consulting, or high-growth tech start-up experience.

  • You bring deep exposure to payer and employer business models and economics, with experience supporting new product launches

  • You thrive in high-growth environments and have in-depth experience developing sales solutions and playbooks from the ground up

  • You are a relationship builder with excellent communication skills, and delight in forging meaningful bonds across all levels of an organization

  • You have demonstrated success in navigating the unknown and have sought out opportunities to dive into unfamiliar challenges, roll up your sleeves, learn new skills, and drive towards solutions.

  • You seek an environment that fosters individual growth through open-feedback and high-autonomy

  • You are motivated by the opportunity to make an impact on one of our generation’s defining problems – making quality mental healthcare both accessible and affordable.
