Position Overview
The Junior Controller supports the broader finance team in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and improving financial processes. This role is hands-on, detail-oriented, and well-suited for a high-growth environment where strong fundamentals, ownership, and continuous improvement are valued. The role offers meaningful exposure to all aspects of accounting and finance, close partnership with senior finance leadership, and a clear path for growth into a Controller or Finance Manager role.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations (cash, AR, AP, inventory, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets)
Support preparation of internal financial statements and management reporting
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and tracking actuals vs. plan
Help maintain and improve internal controls and accounting policies
Support audit and tax processes by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
Partner with AP/AR to ensure accurate and timely processing
Support systems improvements and process automation within the accounting function
Perform ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed
Qualifications
Must have 3-5 years of CPG experience with clear understanding of trade deduction management
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
2–5 years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting or industry)
Strong understanding of GAAP
Experience with month-end close and account reconciliations
Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic modeling)
Experience with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks, Oracle)
CPA or CPA-track preferred but not required
