  • Collaborate with platform team to extend the web BFF for mobile needs.

  • Oversee security and authentication flows (eg OIDC, secure storage, push binding).

  • Plan for future features: messaging (multi-role), reviews, and content feed.

  • Mentor the Senior Mobile Developer, ensuring code quality and consistency.

  • Partner with Product/Design to balance speed with UX quality.

Requirements

  • 5+ years mobile dev experience, 2+ in leadership/architecture.

  • Drive for (and, ideally, experience with) working in a fast-growth startup environment with limited resources and high agency.

  • Expertise in React Native (0.70+), ideally New Architecture (Fabric/TurboModules).

  • Understanding of offline-first architectures and caching strategies.

  • Proven experience integrating push notifications and secure authentication.

  • Familiar with BFF patterns, GraphQL, SDUI, feature flags.

  • CI/CD and release management experience.

  • Strong security awareness (OIDC, token handling, certificate pinning).

  • Experience with native mobile environments (Swift/Kotlin).

Nice to Have

  • Built or integrated messaging/chat apps before.

  • Familiarity with Flutter/KMP, understanding trade-offs.

  • Prior startup/“0→1” app launch experience.

Benefits

  • An entrepreneurial and creative environment where great ideas are actively encouraged, and taking responsibility for them is expected

  • The warm fuzzy feeling that comes with knowing you are making a huge difference to small independent businesses, local economies and communities

  • Free access to private GP, and unlimited mental health support and counselling via our partner at BHSF.

  • Budget to set up a remote working space and access to co-working spaces

  • Supportive Parental Pay: we offer 16 weeks full pay if you’re the primary caregiver & 4 weeks full pay if you’re the secondary caregiver.
