Senior Manager, Patient Content and Storytelling

Job Summary

OPEN Health’s Patient Engagement group offers thought leadership in the development and execution of patient engagement strategy for biotech companies developing therapies for rare diseases. Our clients seek to go beyond patient education to achieve broad patient activation and engagement.

Our Senior Manager, Patient Content and Storytelling plays a key role in capturing the voice of patient thought leaders to tell their stories in an engaging, relevant, and inspiring manner. Our storytelling team conducts in-depth interviews with patients to gain insight into their personal stories, including their diagnosis journey and their experiences living with a disease and receiving treatment. The storytelling team also helps facilitate the editing and review process to ensure compliance with all applicable guidelines.

Our versatile storywriters create various types of content, including interview guides, discussion guides, video scripts, emails, social media, and talking points. In addition to excellent interviewing and writing skills, the Senior Manager must be empathetic, detail-oriented, and capable of juggling multiple projects.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conducting research for various disease states and learning about their impact on patients

  • Conducting in-depth patient interviews

  • Writing patient stories and other deliverables in the patients’ authentic voice

  • Refreshing previously written content to meet current business goals

  • Working on special projects as needed

  • Preparing outlines for patient/caregiver videos, traveling to on-site video shoots, conducting video interviews, and writing video storyboards and scripts 

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Previous patient engagement experience with a biopharmaceutical company or patient engagement agency preferred

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably in marketing, journalism, or health communication

  • An empathic, compassionate communication style

  • Ability to adhere to tight project timelines and work cooperatively with different key players

  • Strong writing, editing, researching, and proofreading skills

  • Ability to pay close attention to detail while working on multiple projects

  • Ability to collaborate comfortably with a 100% remote team

  • Basic understanding of legal and regulatory environment in pharmaceutical promotions, pharma industry guidelines, and other compliance-related issues

  • Superior communication skills (both written and verbal) and a proven ability to communicate effectively

  • Proficiency in MS365 including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Zoom

Travel Requirements

  • 10% potential domestic travel possible
