Head of Marketing

SessionLab is the leading platform for workshop facilitation and process design. Our mission is to empower people to create change. We do that by building technology that enables better facilitation. More than 100.000 professionals are using our Software-as-a-Service product to design and deliver meaningful workshops.

We are looking for a Head of Marketing ideally with the ambition to also lead our current three-people marketing team.

We need a combination of hands-on demand generation/marketing experience and the experience and appetite to run a small marketing team for a B2B SaaS company.

You will work closely with – ideally, you will end up managing – our marketing team and get involved in our leadership team. You will build and optimize marketing programs and campaigns using a mix of different channels to drive marketing-qualified leads and revenue. You will manage the marketing budget and own and report on marketing KPIs.

We are a bootstrapped and profitable software business, headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia, and working across Europe with a fully remote 13-person team. Therefore, we are looking for somebody who is self-motivated, independent, and comfortable working in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

Broadly speaking, at least half of your time would spent on doing hands-on demand generation work, and the other part is to run our marketing operations and team.

In more detail:

  • Build strong, integrated marketing programs using a mix of content marketing, email marketing, and digital marketing to drive marketing-qualified leads and revenue.

  • Manage and allocate marketing budget across different channels to drive the most qualified leads.

  • Measure, analyze, and report on campaign and channel performance and provide strategic direction based on analysis.

  • Manage and mentor marketing team members.

  • Oversees the marketing strategy, and identifies opportunities and potential risks and bottlenecks. Takes action accordingly to ensure a balance of great short and long-term performance.

  • Capable of being a fully independent contributor to marketing channels and campaigns and also managing complex projects and multiple contributors.

  • Oversees and manages our marketing workflows.

  • Ensures high standards in marketing operations and collaborates with others to improve their skills and deliverables.

  • Besides your area of expertise, understand the rest of the marketing activities of the company to provide support as needed.

  • Active contributor in building and promoting SessionLab's brand and values towards the external world.

Apply if you have the following skills and experience

We’re looking to find a “been-there-done-that” (have run a small marketing team of a B2B SaaS company) excellent marketer to hand over the responsibility of owning our Marketing

What we look for:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in marketing for ideally a B2B SaaS or technology business. - We primarily look for B2B experience, but as we’re a low-ACV primarily self-serve B2B SaaS company, B2C experience can come in handy, too.

  • In previous roles, you reported directly to the CEO on progress towards goals and success of campaigns.

  • Demonstrable hands-on experience in creating marketing assets such as landing pages, and email workflows.

  • Experienced in achieving results using performance marketing campaigns.

  • Experience in using marketing and analytics platforms. (Our current stack is Brevo/Sendinblue, Convertful, GA4). Knowledge of Google Analytics and experience running detailed campaign reporting,

  • High level of proficiency with managing and interpreting campaign and channel data – budgeting, reporting, analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization;

  • Demonstrated ability to generate leads and generate qualified opportunities in the pipeline;

  • Experience in managing multi-channel marketing campaigns in a B2B SaaS environment;

  • Problem solver with a growth mentality;

  • Ability to learn fast, balance priorities, and meet deadlines;

  • Strong project management skills, verbal and written communication skills;

  • Team player: organizing and managing with multiple stakeholders within the business;

  • Self-motivated and self-managed: able to think independently, get feedback, and find solutions.

  • You have some understanding of why facilitation is important and what workshops are.

Who you will work with

We recapped to you, who are in our current marketing team, so you can get an idea of what capacities we already have in-house:

Our current marketing team:

  • Head of Content - James: Owns content marketing, SEO, managing content contributor(s) as direct reports. Currently also takes care of email marketing and CRO.

  • Community manager and Content marketer - Carrin: Owns our Community, Partnerships, Social media, Newsletter, and occasional content contributions.

  • Subject matter expert Content Writer (part-time) - Deb: creates and reviews content relating to our domain. Participates across our activities where subject matter expertise is needed.

  • (Temporary) Head of Marketing - Robert: Our co-founder and CEO, who was our initial marketer before we had a team. He is wearing too many other hats to dedicate enough attention to our Marketing. The goal is that you replace him.

  • Visual Designer (part-time) - Laura: Creates visual assets for our marketing campaigns (next to also support our Product Design)

Why is this great for me?

  • Your role and responsibility will grow as our company grows.

  • Work remotely and create your own schedule (we believe in trust and autonomy).

  • A stable working environment that values work-life balance.

  • Motivated co-workers.

  • You will also have a chance to travel a couple of times per year to live company meetings.

  • Open-minded working culture where we encourage sharing opinions and feedback.

  • You are passionate about workshops and facilitation and share our vision that the world is a better place with more skilled facilitators. 🙂
