Your Mission - Should You Choose to Accept It:
We are looking for a business-oriented leader in Data Analytics who will transform how our company uses data. This role is not about producing dashboards - itâs about shaping business outcomes through curiosity, insight, and organizational change. You will lead the transition from reactive reporting to a proactive, insight-driven culture, helping us make data central to every decision. Your and your teamâs insights will directly influence strategic decisions, empowering Smallpdf to continue its path of innovation and customer-centric development.
What Youâll Do:
Transform Analytics into a Strategic Partner
Lead the transition from reactive reporting to proactive, business-driven insights.
Establish the use of AI across our analytics approach, ensuring data supports smarter, faster decisions.
Educate teams and leadership on data literacy and instill a mindset where insights fuel everyday business.
Set up processes and structures that embed analytics into the core of our operations.
Unlock Business & Customer Value
Deeply re-analyze the business to generate insights from behavioral and operational data.
Identify opportunities for product, marketing, and monetization improvements through data-driven analysis.
Ensure insights are translated into clear, actionable strategies for leadership and cross-functional teams.
Act as a âsecond set of eyesâ on performance, ensuring business health is consistently monitored.
Elevate Teams & Structures
Coach, hire, and scale a team of analytics professionals, growing both capabilities and impact.
Create a balanced team that combines business acumen with technical strength.
Collaborate with Data Engineering and Platform teams to ensure a robust, scalable data setup.
Build processes that balance stakeholder requests with strategic priorities.
Bridge Between Strategy & Data:
Youâre not just overseeing analytics, youâre directly connected to the data layer, able to test business hypotheses quickly through your own analyses, in SQL or similar technologies, before scaling them across the team.
Lead by Example:
Demonstrate analytical excellence by showing your team how to structure analyses, write robust SQL, and transform messy data into actionable insights
What Weâre Looking For:
Experience & Background
8+ years of experience in Analytics, Insights, or Business Intelligence, ideally within SaaS/subscription or consumer-facing businesses.
Strong track record of turning data into business outcomes (growth, retention, monetization).
Experience in commercial analytics, consumer insights, or data consulting; consultancy + in-house experience is a plus.
Leadership experience in growing and managing data teams, including cross-functional collaboration.
Proficiency in data platforms and engineering principles, with the ability to apply them hands-on (not only to collaborate).
Proven experience in SQL and familiarity with dbt and Looker, or similar tools.
Degree in Business Engineering, Economics, Marketing Intelligence, or similar - combining analytical rigor with commercial acumen.
Mindset & Skills
Curiosity & proactivity: constantly spotting anomalies and digging deeper.
Business-first perspective: data is a tool to drive outcomes, not an end in itself.
Pragmatic, data-agnostic problem solver - focused on outcomes, not just methods.
Strong communicator: able to simplify complex insights, influence leadership, and inspire teams.
Stakeholder management: prioritization, negotiation, and challenging business requests.
Why youâll love working at Smallpdf
This is a unique opportunity to reshape the role of Data Analytics in our company, moving from reactive reporting to a strategic business driver. Youâll work across functions, inspire teams, and make data the foundation of how we grow, innovate, and succeed.

Compensation philosophy
At Smallpdf, we believe compensation should be fair, transparent, and thoughtfully aligned with the value each person brings to our team. Our approach balances several key factors - current market trends, role expectations, seniority, experience, and geographic location - to ensure every offer is both competitive and equitable.
We review our salary ranges regularly to stay in step with the evolving market, and we make decisions based on skills, impact, and responsibility rather than negotiation strength. Our goal is simple: to recognize and reward great work, support long-term growth, and create a compensation structure that feels fair, consistent, and grounded in integrity.
We want everyone at Smallpdf to feel valued, supported, and empowered to do their best work - and our compensation philosophy is designed to reflect exactly that.
Hiring policy
Smallpdf is an equal-opportunity employer, and we believe our strength comes from a team that reflects a wide range of backgrounds, identities, perspectives, and lived experiences. We welcome applicants of all genders, ethnicities, ages, abilities, orientations, and life paths. Youâll also have the option to share your pronouns and answer an anonymous demographic questionnaire when you apply. This information is completely voluntary, but it helps us stay accountable in building an inclusive and equitable hiring process.
We use AI thoughtfully in our day-to-day work, but we value human curiosity, creativity, and integrity above all. Weâre excited to meet candidates who bring genuine expertise, real stories, and authentic experience to the table.
By submitting your application, you agree to Smallpdf handling and storing your data in accordance with our privacy guidelines.
Don't wait, tomorrow could be too late.
