Our Ways of Working

As the Director of Operations, you will be required to travel 30% of the time. Travel will include frequent visits to our 3PLs and warehouses across the US.

In addition, since we have team members located across the United States spanning multiple time zones, we put in extra effort to make sure we connect and collaborate in ways that make sense for us.

We know that personal connection is the foundation for the great work we do together. In order to build those relationships with team members in other cities, we meet with coworkers in person two times a year at a full company offsite and a departmental offsite. These are great opportunities to meet the people you work with every day and to do some of the work that is much more difficult to do virtually.

What the Role Is

We are looking for a Director of Operations to help lead our rapidly growing Supply Chain Operations team. The Director of Operations will report to the SVP of Supply Chain Operations and be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Operations, including order management, fulfillment, logistics, transportation, and 3PL management.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background and proven track record of building and developing innovative and efficient operations.    

As the Director of Operations, you will be responsible for assisting in facilitating a multi-year strategy within our network.  You will have experience in cross-functional project management.  The ideal candidate is versed in both automation and technology allowing for timely and accurate decision making throughout projects.  The ideal candidate can assist in building out management teams surrounding orders, inventory, and fulfillment.  They will be able to set standard operating procedures, KPI’s and culture.  You will be responsible for assisting in setting up the overall strategy, establishing the standard processes, engaging on technology roadmap and measuring progress through relevant metrics.  This role is also about setting up a stable, agile and productive culture in fulfillment operations to achieve company goals. You should have proven abilities to deliver the long-term planning vision, set priorities, develop and audit processes that enable scaling and growth and lead your team to meet/exceed goals. 

You will be a core member within the Supply Chain Operations leadership team and will engage cross functionally with Finance, Accounting, Merchandising, Merchandise Planning, Product and Engineering to ensure on-time delivery capabilities. A highly visible, cross functional and important role across the company! 

Who You Are

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in a supply chain or merchandising organization, ideally in ecommerce

  • Excellent understanding of fulfillment, distribution, logistics, order management and supplier management 

  • Fluent in establishing a continuous improvement culture 

  • Experience with identifying and managing automation at scale

  • Well versed in retail P&L’s and ability to influence key decision makers on fulfillment channels based on unit economics and capacity

  • Ability to lead, inspire and motivate team members to a world class standard

  • Strong strategic thinker, able to anticipate headwinds and tailwinds in the industry

  • You are passionate about providing our customers with a stellar order experience

  • You’re curious about answering the WHY through the analysis of order data

  • You can communicate complex insights in an easy-to-understand way for a wide range of audiences

  • You're a self starter, proactive and able to define and execute projects independently 

  • You are adept with e-commerce order fulfillment best practices and managing data

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Assist in developing and leading the Supply Chain Operations strategies for Babylist

  • Establish a culture of continuous improvement using all methodologies available

  • Assess and work on introducing automation and robotics in our in house fulfillment centers

  • Develop standard work for all outbound processes as well as oversee throughput calculations, level loading, KPIs, near real time oversight etc. both externally within our 3PL’s and in the future internally

  • Build a holistic returns program that includes quick return for customers, grading, re-use, liquidation strategy to ensure we extract the most value out of returns.

  • Lead teams in and outside of your organization to benchmark and programmatically drive towards meeting/exceeding goals

Babylist takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. The estimated pay range for this role is $136,000 - $190,000.

In addition, Babylist offers equity, bonus, and benefits, including company paid health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies.
