🌟 What We Are Looking For

We’re looking for a Creative & Brand Manager to lead how the Makeship brand shows up across every touchpoint; visually, verbally, and emotionally.

This role exists to ensure our brand and creative work are both effective and distinctive across every touchpoint, and to bring clarity, consistency, and effectiveness to how our brand shows up across campaigns and channels.

You’ll own creative and brand direction day to day, with clear alignment to leadership priorities. You’ll manage a small team of designers, set the creative quality bar, and help build systems that allow brand and performance to reinforce each other rather than operate in silos.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for someone who believes great creativity comes from strong direction, thoughtful systems, and teams that are coached.

 

🚀 Your Key Responsibilities

Brand Direction & Creative Leadership

  • Own creative and brand direction day to day, with clear alignment to leadership priorities.

  • Ensure brand expression is consistent, intentional, and recognizable across visuals, tone, and storytelling.

  • Guide the rollout and ongoing application of our rebrand across the business.

  • Provide clear creative direction and decision-making to keep work moving forward with confidence.


Storytelling & Campaign Expression

  • Partner with Growth to bring campaigns, tentpoles, and moments to life through strong creative narratives.

  • Translate business goals and moments into compelling brand expression across the full marketing stack.

  • Ensure storytelling feels cohesive across paid, email, social, web, and creator touchpoints.

  • Bring forward creative ideas that elevate how Makeship shows up in key moments and events.

Team Leadership & Craft Development

  • Lead and develop a team of designers, with a strong focus on craft, taste, and storytelling quality.

  • Set and uphold a high creative quality bar, and actively coach the team toward stronger taste, storytelling, and execution over time.

  • Provide clear direction, actionable feedback, and coaching to help designers consistently produce better work with less rework.

  • Act as a player/coach when needed, modelling quality and decision-making, with the goal of enabling the team to operate independently over time.

  • Support performance conversations, growth plans, and career development for your team.

Creative Systems & Process

  • Apply and evolve existing creative workflows, including briefing, reviews, and feedback loops.

  • Ensure designers receive strong briefs and clear context so they can do their best work.

  • Improve creative velocity and quality by creating clarity, not bureaucracy.

  • Help teams understand how creative decisions connect to outcomes and performance.

Brand × Performance Partnership

  • Collaborate closely with Growth and Digital Marketing to ensure brand and performance function as one system.

  • Use performance insights to refine creative direction and storytelling over time.

  • Help teams balance short-term performance needs with long-term brand consistency and momentum.

🧠 What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in brand, creative, or marketing roles, with demonstrated leadership responsibility.

  • Proven ability to set and uphold a strong creative and brand quality bar.

  • Experience managing and developing designers with a craft-first mindset.

  • Strong storytelling instincts across both visual and verbal expression.

  • Confidence making creative decisions and providing clear, constructive feedback.

  • Ability to partner cross-functionally with Growth and Digital teams.

  • A nuanced understanding of how brand and performance should work together.

  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and evolving priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Tools & Skills

  • Strong foundation in brand systems, creative direction, and visual storytelling

  • Experience working with designers across tools like Figma and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Comfort reviewing work across paid media, email, web, and social channels

  • Familiarity using performance insights to inform creative decisions

  • Clear communication, critique, and coaching skills

Salary Band: $95,000-$110,000k CAD per annum. Individual salaries will be dependent on unique skills, experience and qualifications.
