We are MicroConf, the largest online and in-person community for founders of bootstrapped software startups. We are among the best in the world at training, educating, and connecting bootstrapped software as a service (SaaS) founders.
We are looking for a dynamic General Manager with a background in digital products, to lead MicroConf into its next phase of growth. You’ll lead a small and fast-moving team to:
Refine, expand, and execute our growth strategy
Market and improve our current digital products
Oversee overall company operations, including managing the core team
What’s Different About This Job?
We achieve surprising results with a small team of folks who have an outsized impact on 125,000 ambitious software entrepreneurs around the world.
We are a seven-figure company looking to 3-4x revenue over the next five years through the growth of our audience and a roll-out of digital products that cater to the needs of our audience. Our current offerings include a thriving online community with over 7,000 members, in-person events, and a suite of knowledge and education products tailored to meet the unique needs of software as a service (SaaS) founders.
Working directly with MicroConf’s founder, you will implement a strategic plan to aggressively grow revenue through digital products, courses, and events (both online and in-person). You will have significant leeway to execute this growth strategy.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital marketing (including copywriting), experience launching and marketing digital products, a healthy focus on growth milestones, and the ability to manage a small, but talented team.
Responsibilities
Work with our founder to implement a strategic plan to aggressively grow revenue through digital products, courses, and events (both online and in-person).
Manage and oversee the 5-person team, including hiring, firing, goal setting, and accountability. Areas include digital content production, event production, community management, sponsorship sales and fulfillment, and marketing.
Oversee digital marketing strategies, including content marketing, SEO, email campaigns, and (potentially) paid acquisition.
Oversee digital product creation, including directing our mastermind matching program (and in the future, our co-founder matching program), and outlining and marketing new video courses.
Get your hands dirty crafting irresistible marketing funnels (bonus if you can write email and website copy)
Monitor, test, and refine marketing funnels, potentially incorporating paid acquisition strategies (likely with outside help).
Overall management of company operations, including the overall budget.
High-level oversight of events (with the help of in-house and external event talent), ensuring high-quality experiences for our attendees.
Close event sponsorship deals and work with our events team to ensure they are fulfilled.
Identify and manage external vendors, freelancers, and contractors to supplement company needs
Be the person who makes sure all the i’s are dotted and the t’s are crossed. The buck stops with you.
Explore and implement new projects and products that will enhance what MicroConf has to offer.
Qualifications
5+ years experience in a leadership role in a company focused on marketing, selling, and supporting digital products.
Strong background in digital marketing, including launching and marketing digital products, copywriting, and building + optimizing marketing funnels.

Exceptional leadership skills and experience managing a small team.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Strong financial acumen and the ability to effectively create and manage budgets.
Skilled working with online tools such as GSuite, Zapier, and web-based CRM.

We’re a small team, so you will inevitably need to take the lead on a project, learn a new skill, or do something you may not be familiar with but are interested in trying out.
Excellent written communication skills. Ability to adopt the voice of our brand.
(Bonus) Some experience with event management.
(Bonus) A strong knowledge of bootstrapped startups (double bonus if your knowledge is with SaaS).
