VP of Sales

We are seeking a VP of Sales with deep expertise in selling software solutions to the Retail and Ecommerce sectors, particularly to mid-market and enterprise-level customers. As the VP of Sales, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth by expanding our presence in these segments, building strong relationships with senior leaders at target companies, and hiring and developing a high-performing sales team.
What you’ll do (responsibilities)
Lead Sales Strategy and Execution: Develop and execute the sales strategy to capture the Retail and Ecommerce segments, focusing on mid-market and enterprise customers. Drive the end-to-end sales process, including prospecting, qualifying, negotiating, and closing deals.
Build and Scale the Sales Team: Hire, onboard, and mentor a team of high-performing sales professionals. Set clear expectations, provide coaching and guidance, and create a high-impact, results-oriented culture.
Enterprise Account Management: Develop deep relationships with VP and C-level leaders at target accounts. Act as a trusted advisor, identifying customer needs and mapping our solutions to their business challenges.
Drive Product-Market Fit: Collaborate closely with Product and Marketing teams to ensure the product roadmap and positioning are aligned with customer feedback and market dynamics. Provide market insights that will drive product development and differentiation.
Forecasting and Reporting: Maintain accurate sales forecasting, tracking pipeline progress, and reporting key performance metrics to the executive team. Proactively address potential shortfalls and implement corrective actions.
Customer Success Collaboration: Lead a lean and nimble team of Customer Success/Support members to ensure smooth hand-offs, quick value realization, and long-term customer satisfaction and retention.
Represent Moonvalley at Industry Events: Attend industry conferences, participate in thought leadership activities, and build relationships with key industry influencers and potential partners.
What we’re looking for (qualifications)
The ideal candidate for this role should possess:
7+ years of experience in sales, with at least 4 years in a leadership role selling software solutions to the Retail and Ecommerce industries.
Proven track record of success in closing $100k+ ACV deals with mid-market and enterprise customers. Experience in strategic selling and complex deal structuring is essential.
Strong understanding of the Retail and Ecommerce technology landscape, including customer pain points, industry trends, and competitive offerings.
Demonstrated ability to build, scale, and lead high-performing sales teams. Proven experience in hiring, coaching, and developing sales professionals.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders across business and technical roles.
Strategic mindset with the ability to operate autonomously and execute at a tactical level. Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving results in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working with cross-functional teams, including Product, Marketing, and Customer Success, to align go-to-market strategy and product vision.
