Overview
Subscript is a Series A startup focused on making life better for B2B SaaS finance leaders.
Weâre backed by top-tier investors like First Round Capital, Pelion Ventures, and execs from Looker, Gusto, Postman, Plaid, and others.
We're growing rapidlyâclosing deals almost entirely through founder-led sales and our Head of Marketing (whoâd never sold anything before đ). Now, weâre looking for our next Account Executive to help continue that growth.

The way we work:
At Subscript, we do things differentlyâand weâre proud of that.
Every job at Subscript is fully remote. You can work from wherever you want, as long as youâre generally available during US working hours. We have teammates in San Francisco, Portugal, Brazil, England, Vietnam, Canada, and beyond đ
We are an asynchronous teamâmeaning no recurring internal meetings and very little live collaboration. We rely on each team member to communicate clearly in writing and through recorded video. If youâre sick of endless Zoom calls and Slack pings, youâll love it here.
We actually like each other đ We meet up multiple times per year for in-person offsites in great locations (Barcelona, Atlanta, LisbonâŚ)
Like all start-ups weâre scrappyâbut not scrappy on compensation. Subscript is committed to paying at market rate for every role.
The role youâll play on our team:
This isnât your typical AE role. Itâs way harderâand way more rewarding.
Subscript is a complex product sold to finance leaders (CFOs, Controllers, VPs of Finance) at B2B SaaS companies. These folks are sharp, technical, and skepticalâand we love that.
But it means closing a deal isnât about charisma or charm. Itâs about learning how their business works, understanding their finance processes, and customizing your pitch based on what they really need.
Youâll also be responsible for generating your own pipeline.
That means cold emailing, cold calling, reaching out on LinkedIn, and anything else you can dream up. Weâll share whatâs worked for usâbut the truth is, youâll need to be proactive and creative to succeed here.
If youâre looking for a role where leads are handed to you and you just ârun the playbook,â this isnât it. If you love the idea of hunting for deals, figuring out what works, and closing business with support but not hand-holdingâthis could be a great fit.
This is not a plug-and-play sales job. Youâll need to be hungry, thoughtful, and insanely curious.
Youâll work closely with our Interim CEO (who currently sells most of our deals) and with our co-founders. Youâll be expected to own the full sales cycleâfrom discovery to closeâand weâll support you every step of the way. But youâll need to bring the drive.

Subscript is still early, and every deal you close will shape our future. Youâll influence how we position ourselves, what we build, and how we grow. Youâll work directly with the founding team and have a real voice in how we operate. If youâre successful here, you wonât just be a number on a leaderboardâyouâll be a foundational hire with serious upside.
You might be a great fit if:
Youâre early in your sales career (0â3 years of experience), and youâre hungry to grow fast.
Youâve got a chip on your shoulder. Maybe you were overlooked. Maybe youâre switching careers. Whatever the reason, youâre out to prove somethingâand we love that energy.
Youâve got serious grit. This role isnât easy. Youâll need to learn complex material, bounce back from tough calls, and keep going.
Youâre a learning machine. You seek out coaching. You ask for feedback. You read. You research. You get better every week.
Youâre intellectually curious. When you find a topic thatâs new to youâlike SaaS finance or quote-to-cash workflowsâyou go down the rabbit hole.
Youâre comfortable with nuance. Our product is flexible. Thatâs a strengthâbut it means youâll need to do real discovery and tailor your approach each time.
Youâre good with words. You donât need to be a copywriter, but you should be confident writing thoughtful, persuasive emails and follow-ups.
Youâre the kind of person who Googles things compulsively and takes pride in figuring stuff out fast. If thatâs not you, youâll probably struggle here.
The interview process
We like to be really transparent about everything at Subscriptâincluding how we hire.
Our process is designed to help us find people who are gritty, curious, and self-driven. That means weâve built in a few moments for the most motivated candidates to stand out. (If you like a challenge, youâll enjoy this.)
Hereâs what to expect:
1. Application
Submit your resume and answer a few short questions.
2. âShow Me How You Learnâ Challenge
Weâll ask you to spend a little time learning something newâanything you chooseâand show us how you went about it. (Thereâs also an optional bonus challenge here, if youâre curious about our customers.)
3. Grit Simulation
Youâll walk through a fictional scenario where things arenât going your wayâand explain how youâd respond. This is your chance to show us how you handle setbacks, pressure, and uncertainty.
4. Live Interview
A 1:1 conversation where weâll go deep on how you learn, what motivates you, and how you push through challenges. Weâll also save plenty of time for your questions.
5. References
Weâll speak with a couple folks who can tell us more about how you work and grow.
Thatâs it. No drawn-out panels or endless interview rounds. Just a focused process with a couple of thoughtful exercisesâdesigned to help you (and us) figure out if this is a great mutual fit.
