Overview

Zen Projects is expanding, and we’re seeking motivated, organized, and ambitious Account Executive to join our remote team. This role is perfect for someone with a development agency background (or technical sales experience) who understands the foundations of a development project and the needs of clients. Someone who would like to translate their industry expertise into additional income while helping potential clients avoid the pitfalls of the development industry.  

At Zen Projects, we don’t offer traditional estimates. When working with a new client we offer a paid specification service, which translates their idea into a full development blueprint. We discuss their project, ask important questions, and build out, in plain English, a highly detailed and organized plan for their project. This process guarantees them success and helps them to avoid questions and confusion, not to mention scope creep, by having a full picture of what they need. This spec of course also includes accurate estimates based on real data. 

The Account Executive would not be responsible for selling development projects, but for creating new leads and selling clients on the importance and necessity of a proper specification process. 

Responsibilities

Client Acquisition & Growth - Drive the acquisition and securing of new client accounts, and discuss with them the specification process, with the goal of securing a specification project. 

Growth Marketing & Lead Generation - Be responsible for implementing growth marketing strategies and generating leads to drive business success and engagement. 

This role will partner directly with our founder and have a high level of autonomy. You’ll get to own your work, create systems and processes you enjoy, and make things happen. There is a ton of opportunity for growth within this role for the right person.

Pay Structure & Commissions

This is a hunter role and has a heavy emphasis on high commissions. You’ll get what you put into it. The base pay will be $30-40k USD a year with a potential OTE of $150K+.

You’d receive a commission on any clients who move forward after meeting with you, and you’ll earn roughly 80-90% of the specification cost. 

The average cost for a specification process is between $2,000-$10,000 depending on the size of the project. The specifications are written by the company founder, so the only expenses coming from this are the hours (usually 10-20) needed by the development team (at our cost). The remaining amount goes 100% to the PDC. So your commission would be between $1500-$8000 per spec. Ideally you’re locking in 4+ specs a month.

Who we’re looking for

  • Self-motivated, ambitious individual looking for a solid position with room to grow. 

  • Self-confidence and the ability to be the initial contact to generate leads.

  • Critical thinking and imagination to create new potential sales channels.

  • Organized and professional with the ability to work without supervision. 

  • Effective communication with our team and potential prospects, to make sure your questions get answered efficiently. 

  • 2-3 years prior sales experience with a development agency.

  • Excellent written English communication skills, with great verbal communication skills for follow-up calls.
