Zen Projects is expanding, and we’re seeking a motivated, organized, and ambitious Sales Development Representative to help us in these efforts. This is a foundational position with room to grow. You’ll help us develop and oversee our outbound and marketing strategies and, over time, help us build a larger sales team. 

Most of our team, including the company founder, is located in Europe and Asia, so while schedules overlap and you’ll have the full support of our team, this position will require someone who is a self-starter and can work without direct supervision. 


The main goal of this position is to establish new sales channels with the ultimate goal of setting up a meeting between the potential client and the company founder. Negotiating the details of the project and the eventual closure of the deal will be the responsibility of the founder, at least at the start. This position is to generate interest, discover leads and book these meetings. We would expect this position to result in 15-20 meetings booked per month. 

This is a non-technical position, and you’ll have the full support of the founder and our development and design teams when you may need to provide technical answers to a client.

To this end, the position will involve: 

  • Utilizing our Upwork profiles to generate leads and send out 15-30 proposals per day. This includes sending proposals on our current profile, which is top-rated plus, expert-vetted with a 100% job success score, and helping us build out our Agency profile which has yet to be established. 

  • Engaging potential clients and prospects via social media, including LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter. 

  • Finding prospects and sending out cold emails/messages. 

  • Finding new sources of leads and prospects. 

  • Working with the company founder and the development and design teams to submit RFPs.

  • Work with the company founder to build out a sales and marketing strategy as well as a social media and content strategy focused on generating leads (execution of these plans will be done by other team members, with your oversight). 

  • Eventually, hiring and training additional salespersons. 

Who we’re looking for

  • Self-motivated, ambitious individual looking for a solid position with room to grow. 

  • Self-confidence and the ability to be the initial contact to generate leads.

  • Critical thinking and imagination to create new potential sales channels.

  • Organized and professional with the ability to work without supervision. 

  • Effective communication with our team and potential prospects, to make sure your questions get answered efficiently. 

  • 2-3 years prior sales experience.

  • Excellent written English communication skills, with great verbal communication skills for follow-up calls. 

If you’re interested in development or design or have a background in either field, that is a bonus, so let us know! However, this is not required for the position. 

What we can offer 

  • A base salary plus a 5% commission on the net profit of any projects results from your lead generation. This includes any subsequent projects that the client may work with us on for the duration of your time with us, with no cap.
