Business Development Specialist

Job summary

This position is for a Business Development Specialist (BDS) to act as an extension of Slope’s core sales team to drive revenue. The BDS works closely with an assigned Account Executive, collaborating with them to strategize, identify, message, qualify, and develop new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively seek new business opportunities in the market.

  • Generate leads and build relationships by nurturing warm prospects and finding potential new sales opportunities across multiple channels and technologies.

  • Identify the needs of prospects by performing detailed research on their pipeline, active and completed clinical trials, trial projections, and corporate growth, at a minimum.

  • Maintain and manage a pipeline of interested prospects and engage Account Executives in the next steps.

  • Set up meetings or calls between prospective customers and Account Executives and remain involved through the sales lifecycle.

  • Represent Slope’s products and services to prospects, using comprehensive knowledge of clinical trials and buyers, as well as consumer research to explain how our solutions meet customer needs.

  • Build long-term, trusting relationships with prospects to qualify leads as sales opportunities.

  • Report weekly, monthly, and quarterly results to the Account Executive and Chief Revenue Officer.

  • Identify best practices for refining the company’s lead-generation playbook.

Experience & requirements

  • Minimum one year experience in sales or sales development within a B2B SaaS environment.

  • Experience with LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Outreach or Salesloft, and Hubspot.

  • Proven track record of exceeding performance targets.

  • Strong desire to advance within a sales organization.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

  • Creative problem-solving approach and strong analytical skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.

  • Experience in the clinical trial or life sciences industry preferred.
