Project Editor (Remote, UK)

StoryTerrace turns life stories into books using professional writers, editors, designers, and its proprietary software platform, Bookmaker. It is the market leader for ghostwritten memoirs in the UK and the US. 

We’re looking for a highly organised project manager to lead book projects from kickoff to publication, supporting Classic clients. This is a strategic, client-facing role where you’ll drive timelines, quality standards and deliver an exceptional publishing experience.

💼 About the Role

At its core, the Project Editor safeguards the integrity of the process, not the prose: creating the structure and accountability that allow all contributors to do their best work while keeping the project on track.

  • Plan, prioritise, and balance 60+ concurrent projects, managing the full project timeline across editorial, production, and design phases.

  • Act as the primary contact and operational liaison between the client, writer, designer and internal team.

  • Troubleshoot challenges that arise during production, help identify practical solutions and escalating where necessary.

  • Build trusted relationships with clients via phone call and email, acting as a calm, confident, and empathetic guide throughout their journey.

  • Handle complex conversations, feedback, and sensitive subject matter with professionalism and emotional intelligence.

😊 About You

  • At least 1-2 years of project management experience (publishing preferred but not required)

  • Customer-facing experience with confidence handling nuanced situations

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s in English and/or Creative Writing strongly preferred

  • Excellent written English; strong editing or writing skills are a bonus

  • Proven ability to manage stakeholders, timelines, and competing priorities.

  • Comfortable working with systems, new technologies, and AI-enabled tools

  • Proactive problem solver, calm under pressure, and confident working independently

  • Collaborative, open to feedback, and able to thrive in a fast-moving scale-up environment

  • Must be based in and eligible to work in the UK.

⛳️ Compensation, Perks & Benefits

  • Annual base salary range £27,500 - £30,500 based on experience, with bonus & commission scheme 

  • 25 vacation days + 8 bank holidays

  • Pension (4% + 4%)
