Alliances Manager

About WellTheory

WellTheory is a digital health company helping people with autoimmune conditions take control of their health through personalized care, nutrition guidance, and ongoing coaching. We're a team of 60+ passionate people who care deeply about helping our members reduce symptoms, feel better, and live fuller lives — while helping employers and payors reduce their spend.

About the Role

WellTheory is growing its presence in the benefits consulting community, building relationships with the national and regional firms employers trust most. As these relationships deepen, we need a dedicated owner focused on the consulting world.

We're looking for an Alliance Manager to build WellTheory's presence in the benefits consulting community: developing relationships at national and regional consulting houses, educating consultants on our model and outcomes, and becoming a valuable resource for their client conversations. You'll work alongside our employer sales team, ensuring consultants have what they need to bring WellTheory to the right clients.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership individual contributor role. You'll report to our CEO initially, then to our Head of Commercial.

What You'll Do

  • Build and deepen relationships at priority consulting houses — becoming WellTheory's primary point of contact for benefit consultants and their account teams

  • Develop our consulting house engagement strategy: which firms and practices to prioritize, how to engage, and what content to bring

  • Present WellTheory's model and outcomes data to consultants and practice leads and represent us at industry events where consultants gather

  • Partner with Marketing to create consultant-facing materials, distinct from our employer-facing story

  • Keep our sales team and consultants connected, ensuring consultants always have current, accurate information about WellTheory when it's relevant for their clients

  • Bring what you learn back to the team, consultant feedback on our positioning, where the market is heading, and how we can be a better partner to the consulting community

You Might Be a Great Fit If You...

  • Know the benefits consulting world deeply — with 5–10+ years of experience either working at a consulting house (Mercer, Aon, WTW, Gallagher, or comparable) or leading alliances or consultant relations at a digital health company. You understand how these firms differ, how their practices are structured, and how they work with their employer clients

Attributes That Make a Strong Candidate

  • Category builder: Experience introducing new models of care, creating urgency where there isn’t yet awareness, and shaping narratives in pioneering categories

  • Strong communicator: Skilled in storytelling, presentations, and crafting effective written communications

  • Roll-up-your-sleeves mentality: Thrives in fast-paced, high-growth startup environments, willing to dive into complex or unglamorous tasks

  • Consultative approach: Treats partnerships as relationships, asking thoughtful questions and guiding partners toward new perspectives

  • Creative and agile: Brings unique ideas to overcome roadblocks and adapts quickly to changing circumstances

  • Organized and diligent: Skilled at juggling multiple tasks while keeping priorities clear and maintaining structured follow-up

✈️ Travel: Significant travel required — ~50% on average, with certain times of year reaching 75%.

This Role Might Not Be a Good Fit If...

  • You’d rather be behind a screen than on the road

  • You expect to step into a mature, fully built sales engine

  • You’re uncomfortable with ambiguity or taking initiative without a roadmap

  • You’re not excited about working for a company that values documentation and process

Bonus Points

  • Prior experience at a benefits consulting firm in a consulting or client management role

  • Experience with sales at a best-in-class digital health company (e.g., Maven, Carrot Fertility, Hinge Health, Progyny, Kindbody, Brightline, etc.)

Qualities That Make Someone Successful at WellTheory

  • Empathy for the autoimmune experience — able to convey deep understanding of patient needs

  • Beginner's mindset — curious, open to learning, and willing to explore unfamiliar aspects of the role

  • Unreasonably relentless — persistent, resilient, and driven to achieve ambitious goals

What We Offer

  • A team that genuinely cares about each other and the members we serve

  • A fully remote company that gathers every year for an annual retreat

  • Compensation: $120–160K base salary and bonus, depending on directly relevant skills and experience

  • Equity: meaningful ownership stake

  • Benefits: comprehensive coverage
