
Operations Manager (100k annual salary including bonuses) - freelance full-time remote

We're a fast-growing global online education company, proving education in DevOps and Cloud engineering fields, with a team of 10+ dedicated professionals. We also have a globally well known established tech education brand with over 1.4 million subscribers on YouTube alone. Our 2 founders currently handle most operational aspects but seek to focus exclusively on creative direction, marketing, and sales.
We're looking for an exceptional Operations Manager to transform our business operations into a well-oiled machine that runs seamlessly without founder involvement.
The Opportunity
This is not just an operations role - it's a business transformation opportunity. You'll completely redesign our operational infrastructure while taking over management of the entire team. Success in this role offers significant growth potential as our business scales.
Core Responsibilities
Process Optimisation & Systems Design
Conduct comprehensive audit of all business processes
Design and implement standardised systems for creation, delivery, and support of engineering courses and bootcamps company offers (extend on existing processes)
Create documentation and SOPs for all operational procedures (extend on existing documentation)
Develop and maintain operational dashboards with key performance indicators
Continuously identify and eliminate inefficiencies and bottlenecks
Implement AI automations for streamlined work (extend on many existing automations)
Team Management
Directly manage all 10+ team members who currently report to the founders
Implement performance management systems and regular review processes
Ensure efficient resource allocation across projects and initiatives
Foster a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement
Handle hiring, onboarding, and team development as we grow
Operational Independence
Systematically reduce founder dependency in all operational aspects
Create visibility through reporting without requiring founder involvement
Establish protocols for efficient decision-making at appropriate levels
Implement knowledge management systems to reduce reliance on any individual
Ensure business can function smoothly during founder absence
Project Implementation
Design and manage system for evaluating and implementing new initiatives
Create standardised resource allocation framework for new projects
Reduce time-to-implementation for new ideas while maintaining quality
Establish clear success metrics for all initiatives
Growth & Scale Preparation
Build operational systems capable of supporting significant growth
Identify automation opportunities to improve efficiency
Create capacity models to predict and prepare for scaling challenges
Ensure quality standards are maintained as volume increases
Requirements/ Essential Experience
5+ years in operations management or similar role
Proven track record of process optimisation and systems design
Experience managing teams of 10+ people
Demonstrated success in reducing founder/executive dependency
Strong background in creating operational dashboards and KPI systems
Essential Skills
Exceptional analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
Outstanding communication and documentation skills
Strong project management capabilities
Process-oriented mindset with attention to detail
Self-driven with ability to work independently
Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid change
Nice to Have
Experience in education or online course business
Knowledge of AI tools for business process automation
Background in scaling businesses through operational improvements
Familiarity with project management and CRM tools (Asana, Mailchimp, etc.)
Compensation (Long-Term Contract) & Benefits
Base Compensation: $50,000 per year
Performance Bonuses: Up to $50,000 per year (paid quarterly based on milestones)
Total Target Compensation: Up to $100,000 per year
